Concorde Hotel

This hotel is offering a very good rate for when we wish to stay in May, but I understand there are renovations going on at present.

Has anyone any idea whether they are very noisy/disruptive and when are they due to be completed.

We want a hotel which is easy to use as a base for sightseeing, not necessarily shopping, so is this one convenient for MRT or buses.

Concorde Hotel

How good is the rate? There are better hotels with easy access to the MRT usually for similar or less. When the Concorde was the Le Meridian it was one to avoid despite its low prices for Orchard road, I cant imagine that enough has changed yet to recommend it unless it is a very good rate. But yes, easy access to MRT, Buses and walking distance to shopping centres from the Concorde.

Hi Scliffy,

I tried surfing the Concorde Hotel Web, and it seems that the price is quite steep at:

Double Deluxe Room SGD 258.00 Per night

Double Premier Club Room SGD 313.00 per night

Did you manage to get even cheaper rates than the ones listed above?

Surprisingly when I surfed for Intercontinental (which is a good location for ethnic sightseeing and also nestled with a Bugis Shopping Mall) for May it gives a rate of :

King Deluxe Room 207.00 SGD per night

I thought it%26#39;s a pretty good deal.

Concorde Hotel is located nearer to the Somerset Region... with more accessibility to shopping than sightseeing. However, Sg%26#39;s transportation is pretty accessible as long as you are near the MRT. As for your case, you are perhaps about 15mins walk?

You could check out your location from this:

Thanks for your replies.

Expedia.com.au shows $130 - $159 aud for a stay over 4 nights in a deluxe room in mid-May and this includes taxes, but no breakfast.

My main desires for a hotel are cleanliness and an ease of access to transport. I find hotels with ';renovations'; are usually disorganised and difficult to stay at.

Last time I stayed in the Marina area and thought I would try somewhere different, but the Meritus Mandarin is also quoting good rates, and I have read about the Ibis Bencoolen, also.

Hi Scliffy,

That indeed is a good rate!

For a change, perhaps you could also check out Royal Plaza on Scotts (if you arent fussy about size of swimming pool) along Orchard, or The Marriott(for good accessibility in orchard).

As for the Meritus Mandarin, part of it is also currently under renovation...

I have also found a good rate for this hotel of $155 a room per night on Hotels.com for August so would be interested to know about the renovations. This is about the cheapest hotel with a swimming pool. Also read it is about a shopping mall so is this noisy? If you do stay ther scliffy maybe you could review it as there arent many on TA Also has anyone used Hotels.com to book hotels.

Thanks Sue

Hi,

I%26#39;ve used hotel.com before... by experience it seems that they are always a bit slow for confirmation. It%26#39;ll be fine if you intend to book it way in advance.

For me, I%26#39;m always in for the last-min deals. =p So these websites such as Asia.com etc doesnt really work for me as they cant confirm the bookings immediately.

Expedia, however, confirms it directly and charge your credit card immediately.

Always compare the rates between the hotel and the websites. Hotel websites are often cheaper than the internet websites when ';near-to-date';. However, it%26#39;s a risk. All you need to ensure is that your travel dates doesnt clash with any international major events held in Sg!

Cheers,

Suying
