hong kong to singapore help advice needed

I will be in hong kong in april and hoping to go to singapore to visit my cousin for a couple of days,

I was wondering firstly about whether i should book flights using the pound currency or hong kong dollars?

Also, how much spending money would i need for singapore for like 3 nights, don%26#39;t intend to buy much, but things like food, visiting sights?

Also, which airport do i pick?

Thanks

hmmm.. i doubt there%26#39;s gonna be a difference. i tried booking on cathay pacific. the price was quoted in hk dollar and then allowed the user to select which currency to change to. it simply uses the prevailing exchange rate.

singapore is a pretty expensive place. if you intend to eat in cafes, each meal would cost around S$15-S$20. If you%26#39;re okay with eating at foodcourts, each meal is easily only S$5+. Of course, if you intend to try our famous chilli crab in restaurants, be prepared to fork out about S$40 per pax.

many sites are free of charge - eg. esplanade, chinatown, little india. but if you intend to visit the night safari or the zoo, there will be entrance fees - think S$15 or so? haven%26#39;t been there for some time but you can easily google to check the price (: you can gauge from there. it really depends on you!

we only have one airport - changi. there are 4 terminal. terminals 1, 2, 3 and the budget terminal.

Hi Mujipor,

You would have to compare the exchange rate given by your bank and that of the website.

As for spendings in Sg, it depends on what you wanna do and your type of appetite.

If you are into trying out just local food and drinks, it sure won%26#39;t cost you a bomb. For local food in Hawker centres (non air-con), S$15 (big eater) is about all you will spend a day. If in food court (in shopping malls with air-con), you will spend about S$25 a day(big eater).

As for restaurants, there are a range of prices. It could be from S$15 a meal to a few hundred dollars (Fine Dining) per person.

The tourism entry sites in Sg are all affordable and hardly more than S$50.

Be prepared that a good portion of your spending would be on hotel accommodation. Ever since the property craze in Sg, hotel prices had also shot through the roof. Prices might have softened a bit due to the economic crunch, but not much.

Hi

I won%26#39;t be staying in hotel but will be staying with a cousin, but she will be at work all day and just wondering is it safe for me to go about doing my own thing? No idea what though!

I like museums, also, what is the weather like in April?

And also, i have a british passport but also a hong kong citizenship ID card, i know that with a british passport i do not need a visa but what about using the hong kong id card to go to singapore?

Hello Mujipor,

Sg is very safe and well-governed. Hardly anyone would disturb you unless you offend them! However, it would be advised that for some places like geyland and little india, you should dress appropriately and avoid too revealing clothes if you are a female. And the same applies to all countries: avoid any dark lanes, small lanes, keep to places where there people.

There is no shortage of musemums in Singapore. There is the Chinese Heritage Centre in Chinatown, the Asian Civilisation Museum, the Changi Museum, the Fort Siloso at Sentosa, the Singapore Malay Heritage Centre, the Peranankan Museum and many many more. YOu could find some from this web link, scroll to the bottom and you will see...
