The Bugis area is great. Parco Bugis Junction Shopping Centre, Bugis street market, and it is very close to Arab Street area and Sultan Mosque, and Little India isn%26#39;t that far away. Bugis MRT underground station is central and from there you can get anywhere. Buses also are frequent along North Bridge Road and Victoria Street. Hotels in that area include The Intercontinental, or Golden Landmark Hotel.
best area to stayi agree with the previous post, Bugis is a good base and offers different hotels for various budgets.

agree, i like the area of bugis. there%26#39;s culture and there%26#39;s shopping and good food.
My Favourite is Raffles City. Walking distance to all the museums, cultural sites,MRT, Raffles City and Marina Sq shopping and walking distance to Clarke and Boat Quay evening destinations when it can sometimes be very long queues at the taxi rank, especially when the MRT has shut for the night.
%26#39;%26#39;Best%26#39;%26#39; is of course a relative term, depending on ones specific needs. One of the great joys of Singapore is that nowhere is that far from anywhere, Little India, Bugis, as stated above, are as good as anywhere, and with the MRT, buses and taxis being so reasonably priced, you%26#39;re never far from most of the major attractions, in fact you%26#39;re never that far from anything. yeah i agree with previous posts that most things are pretty close. We are staying in Fraser Place apartments which is 5 minutes walk from Clark Quay. The apartment has a shuttle to Orchard Road and Suntec shopping so you have most of the major shopping covered. for the most part taxis are relatively cheap also. only cost us $15 to get to the zoo by taxi, which was a 25 minute ride.
