SIN is more expensive than Thailand. SIN is a lot easier to get around and language is no problem (easier than Thailand). U can easily get around on a budget if u r not too fussy about lodging and love to discover local food.
Good Luck
must see/do things in singaporeHi Tets-Kim,
Welcome to Singapore!
The best hotel for you depends really on your budget! Prices for hotels are starting to dip becoz of the economic crunch and most hotels are having low occupancy rate. Recently over the weekend I managed to get a room rate of S$188++ (breakfast included) for a standard room in Royal Plaza on Scotts (4 Stars) situated in the Shopping Paradise along Orchard Road. It%26#39;s best you browse through the hotel websites and choose the best package/promotion available!!!
You could consider: Royal Plaza on Scotts, Elizabeth Hotel, Pan Pacific, Meritus Mandarin, the Swissotel Merchant Court, the Orchard Hotel etc.
The Hippo Tours will offer you very useful guide in Sg. And its Hop on-and-off concept allows you easy access to the ethnic places in Sg. It%26#39;s about S$33. They offer different packages though.
As for the Ducktour, personally i feel you could give it a miss. It doesnt bring you to much places and really a waste of time. Except if you want to try an amphibian vehicle.
A better tour along the river will the the rivercruise bum boat ride. Cheap and Good.
Singapore River Experience – The tale of 2 Quays
Highlights: Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Marina Bay
Adult: $13, Child: $8
New River Experience – The tale of 3 Quays
Highlights: Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, Robertson Quay and Marina Bay.
Adult: $18 Child: $10

Food and drink is slightly more expensive... but it really depends on where you want to eat. In casual hawker centres (non air con) in Sg, a meal will only cost S$5 (example: a plate of chicken rice and a drink). And this is where majority of us have our meals.
List of Some Good Hawker Centres in Singapore
Alexandra Village Food Centre, Amoy Street Food Centre, Bedok South Road Market and Food Centre, Changi Village Market and Hawkers%26#39; Centre, Chinatown Complex, Chinatown Food Street, Chomp Chomp Food Centre, East Coast Lagoon Food Village (highly recommended), Golden Mile Food Centre (Thai Food), Haig Road Food Centre, Hong Lim Food Centre, Lau Pa Sat, Lavender Food Square, Marine Parade Market and Cooked Food Centre, Maxwell Road Food Centre, Newton Food Centre, S-11 Stamford Coffee Shop, Zion Riverside Food Centre.
Food Courts (air con, usually in shopping malls) will only be S$1 or S$2 more expensive.
And restaurants (lower end but good enough) such as The Cartel, the Swensens, kenny Rogers etc will cost you from S$15 -S$30... depending on what you ordered.
Not to be missed when you go to Chinatown is the Chinatown Heritage Centre. Their props vividly depict the life of the early chinese settlers.

The shopping paradise is nestled along the Orchard Road where you could find malls like the Wisma Atria, the Takashimaya, the CK Tangs, the Heerens, The Shaw House, The Paragon.
In Bugis you will find the open air bugis street market, the Parco and Junction 8 Shopping Mall.
In City Hall area you will find the Raffles City Shopping, the Suntec City, the Marina Square, the Millenia.
Dont worry about your many qns... that%26#39;s what the forum is for!
Cheers,

Roughly S$50-100 for 2 days food and drinks per person, depending on how luxurious a place you are dining at.
