Family MRT tickets???

Can anyone tell me if you can get family tickets for the MRT?

Can you buy tickets for frequent travel or day passes?

We will be in Singapore for a week and plan to use MRT and buses for most of our travelling. There will be 7 of us. What is it likely to cost us per trip? Are children cheaper?

Thanks

Family MRT tickets???

Mo, no, no family tickets.

But - you can by an %26#39;ezilink%26#39; card... which lets you hop on and off as much as you like, and and charges per trip (but is cheaper than buying each ticket individually, and means you don%26#39;t need to worry about coins or queuing).

They%26#39;ve just changed the system in 2009, so I%26#39;m not 100% sure what the exact price is now, but it%26#39;s fairly cheap. I think the card is ~S$15, and it comes with $13 worth of transport on it. The avg bus or train fair will be about $1 (for an adult), so you just keep using it until your money is gone, and you can top it up with more money if you want. When you%26#39;re finished with the card, you can return it and get a refund for the residual value.

Kids can travel free if they%26#39;re shorter than 90cm.

Link is here http://www.transitlink.com.sg/ if you want to find out all the details. You can buy an ezilink card at any MRT station, including the airport.

Family MRT tickets???

Thanks for that. So kids over 90cm pay the same as adults? Is MRT generally cheaper for 5 than a taxi??

Yes, especially for longer distances. For a 30 mins. ride, for example, taxi will cost %26gt;$20, but train will be about $10 or less. For short distance, say 10 mins. ride, taxi will cost just %26lt;$10, but train will cost slightly %26gt;$5. Hope this helps.

Yes, for kids above 90cm, pay adults price.
