Shopping Singapore

I will be doing shopping (for clothes of course) in Singapore in Aug (it%26#39;s 1 day stop over and i will be doing the zoo and night safari so I only have a few hrs in between. I want to go to Velocity@Novena (for sports wear like adidas, nike +lorna janes) and Raffle city (since it has a Roxy store) and Marina Square( a bigger mall).I would like some advice:

1- What%26#39;s the estimate price range from the above stores listed (adidas, nike, lorna jane, roxy and billabongs types) (like tops and pants)

2- I%26#39;ve heard of Yin%26amp;yang.What%26#39;s their price range, are they any good?

3- Any recommended stores in those areas?

(i%26#39;m from New Zealand so i%26#39;m not very familiar with many of the european and singapore brands.

Cheers

Shopping Singapore

Hi oki-nichan,

Sounds like you are on a crash course! A pair of nike/adidas shoes could range from S$80 to S$200. Depending on the design you have chosen. However, Novena is not the heaven to shop for sportswear. The best bargain place to shop is at Queensway Shopping Centre located in Alexandra. You will get prices at 20-40% discount off the retail prices. This is where alot of Singaporeans shop for their sports wear. Good bargain.

Billabong price is about S$30 or more for a singlet. The price can be quite steep.

As for Yin%26amp;Yang, I%26#39;m not a fan of it as I don%26#39;t think the material is worth the price. One cotton material, batik style skirt can cost around S$80. I would rather buy clothes from some stores in orchard with this price.

If I were you, i would go straight to the Queensway first to get the best bargains for the sportswear, and then head down to the Orchard for some good shopping as Orchard is till the paradise for shopping. There are many shopping malls like the CK Tangs, Wisma Atria, the Takashimaya, the Heeren, the Paragon, the Far East Shopping Centre and The Shaw Centre. All these are in Orchard.

Sound great.I will certainly go to Queensway (will find out how later)but I really want to visit Lorna Janes (the whole reason i%26#39;m going to Novena) unless they have outlet anywhere else.

What%26#39;s the recommended shopping mall on Orchard? I%26#39;m not into high end product (Prada etc) but ranging to about $100 max only. What shop would you say a must to visit?

It%26#39;s a real crash course!!!!

Hi Oki-nichan,

Seems like only Velocity Novena has the Lorna Janes. Or I could be wrong.

In Orchard, you could visit stores in Takashimaya or Wisma Atria, it%26#39;s a mixture of high end and affordable brands. So you could get clothes as cheap as S$20 to high ended like a few thousand dollars. Affordable brands (range within S$100) are many like Forever21, Miss Salfridge, Zara, Mango, Pretty Feet (shoes or heels), Charles and Keith (shoes or heels), Isetan (there are a few levels, some levels are high ended some are low end) and just many many more shops. Take a good walk around and you find yourself spoiled for choice!

I wouldnt be able to tell you which shop you MUST visit, because from experience, different shops offers different style of clothings... sometimes A shop is nicer than B shop, and sometimes B shop is nicer than A. So you really have to go walk around and take a peep.

I%26#39;m not sure about your age, but if you are into Korean, Japanese and funky style clothings, there is a shopping paradise for it named as Far East Shopping, (it%26#39;s just opposite the Royal on Scotts Hotel), it has a wide range of these fashion. And all within S$100 or even within S$50. Very affordable. However you%26#39;ll also notice a few shops there which quotes high prices above S$100 and claiming that these clothes are imported directly from Korea. Some are true, but some arent. To know whether it%26#39;s real, gauge from the softness %26amp; quality of the material. Real Korean Stuff have good quality clothings that could last you up to 7-8years without being worn-out/go out of shape.

Thanks for the update.

I%26#39;m 22 and into european style - simple and sophisticate -no ruffle for me thanks!!!!Zara and mango sound quite good.There%26#39;s a local label ';Kai'; as well, isn%26#39;t there, at Burgis junction, is it any good?

I had yet to notice a shop named ';Kai';, not that i know!

If you are into European Modern style, yes, the wisma, takashimaya and Shaw Centre should suit your preference. Bugis has quite good range of shopping too, though not as much as the Orchard.

Alternatively you could check out VivoCity... it%26#39;s near the Sentosa. =)

you are going to the zoo and nigh safari as well as some shopping?

wow. i dont think you will have much shopping done considering you have to travel all the way to orchard. if you want to go somewhere closer to the zoo and night safari you can try heading down to Ang Mo Kio (AMK) hub. there a few shop houses as well as a shopping centre it self.

plus its just a bus ride away from the zoo.

It%26#39;s not a worry. The zoo opens in the morning at 8.30am. And it doesnt take that long to finish touring the zoo.

Schedule:

Visit Zoo: 8.30am to 11.30am

take taxi and reach Orchard by 12pm.

Shopping in Orchard/Queensway/Novena: 12-7pm

Back to the Zoo for Night Safari by 7.30pm.

As we agreed, it%26#39;s going to be a crash course! But it should be manageable.

Cheers,

Thanks Heaps guys.I can%26#39;t wait to go now

oh yeah. if you have kids, head to the rainforest kids world (somethigng like that) in the zoo. they have fun waterplay for the kids. so be sure to bring your kid%26#39;s swimming attire if your heading there.
