3 nights in Singapore

We decided to fly home from Malaya via Singapore and are now hearing horror stories of excessive hotel/restaurant/bar prices. Any recommendations of the best area to stay for sightseeing/shopping/dining whilst we are there and any hotel recommendations (4/5 star if we can afford it!). We hope that the visit will be worth the detour.

Hello,

The detour to Singapore should be well worth your while. There is a lot to see and do there. If your focus is eating and drinking out at bars or restaurants then it will get expensive (most big cities are). But, you can sightsee and eat out cheaply in Singapore. Eating at hawker centres or food courts lets you sample local dishes for only a few dollars. The MRT underground and bus system is cheap and easy to use.

Areas and hotels I would recommend to stay in are:-

Orchard Road area: Concorde Hotel, Royal Plaza on Scotts Hotel,Holiday Inn Park View, Traders Hotel.

Bugis area: Golden Landmark Hotel, Allson Hotel.

Others to look at are Carlton Hotel, Clarion Collection Rendezvous Hotel, City Bayview.

Hope you enjoy Singapore.
