Any idea of the approx price compared to the UK? thanks, Evs.

I am not sure what the recent exchage rate fluctuations have done, but Singapore was probably the cheapest place in the world to purchase high end watches.

Ahem.......price? I have no idea, cos I don%26#39;t own a Rolex......^__^. Hope someone can give U an idea of the price.

The most expensive watch I ever own is:

Jaeger LeCoultre

Maybe you like to change Ur Rolex purchase plan to Jaegar LeCoultre, where the 2009 Collection is out:

This Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon with 18 carat Pink Gold is a good pcs to have.

Hi S D Evs,

My sister is a fan of the Rolex Watches and she often buys it from one of the Rolex Watch Shop in Chinatown known as the People%26#39;s Park Complex. She often gets pretty good bargains there. I could check out the exact shop name for you if you really is interested.

From what I understand is that high-end watches in Sg arent really cheap... some of my friends claimed that it is cheaper in HongKong.

As for the prices of the Rolex watches, there is usually a range of prices and you would probably have to let us know which model you are looking at so that we can comment?

But usually for retail shops such as the HourGlass, they give discounts... up to 25% (for normal branded watches) depending on the model of the watch. Even for limited editions they do give a 5% discount. For example, if one hourglass shop doesnt want to offer you any discounts, try another hourglass outlet. That%26#39;s how I got my discounts... and saved me at least a S$500 always.

Suying

Thanks Suying, very helpful, I am interested in the Rolex Submariner with black dial in stainless steel and the GMT Master 11 again in black and in stainless steel. I hope that helps. I bought a TAG Heuer watch in a complex in Chinatown in 1991 still like new. Many thanks, Evs

We saw many watch dealers in Little India. We wondered how authentic the watches were there as the shops/stalls themselves (in and around the Mustafa Centre??) were very basic indeed. Perhaps somebody who lives there can comment about whether these watches are the genuine article or not. All high-end brands were available.

Hi Evs,

I%26#39;ll PM u the information abt the contacts. You can check out your message inbox.

Suying

I was interested in buying a Cartier in Singapore back in September. As a basis of comparison, I own a Breitling Navitimer, and know precisely its value. After negotiating over the discounts I decided that Singapore with tax removed was still more expensive than Brisbane with 10% GST included. Know your prices.

PS High end merchandise in early January in Taipei was much cheaper than Singapore.

In addition to the above, don%26#39;t forget that as a tourist you will be able to claim back the GST on the purchase. This means that you should have your passport details with you so that it can be recorded on the GST forms. It will mean about 7% refund to you less any commissions to the GST Refund companies.
