Singapore Airlines Stopover Deal???

OK I%26#39;ve got a group flying sydney-sg-manchester...i wanted the Allson but now sg air are offering the peninsula excelsior....

what to make of the reviews???? all over the place like a pigs breakfast!

Is it a realistic bottom line that the peninsula tower is refurbished and reasonable?

Anybody know the ceylon sports club? how far from the peninsula? good place for a game of cricket?

Singapore Airlines Stopover Deal???

Hi Jacko,

Pictures often don%26#39;t lie. Perhaps you would like to scrutinise the traveller%26#39;s pictures to decide which is a better hotel?

As for the distance between the Peninsular and the Ceylon Sports Club, I%26#39;m not very sure but perhaps the online street directory could help you.

Singapore Airlines Stopover Deal???

We flew the same route last year and will be doing almost the same one again.

I booked our hotel myself. Check out the Accor site etc. You might find ones cheaper than the SG offer. At least you will get to choose.

The stop over package is good if you want to make use of the peripheral offeres anf free addmisions ets, otherwise it can work out better to book the hotel yourself separately.

The nearest Hotel to ceylon Sport Club is Quality Hotel on Balestier Road, otherwise Royal Hotel at Newton is also nearby.

Quality Hotel, SIngapore:

Ceylon Sport Club website;

Check the address in the above link using www.streetdb.com

Not sure if that a good place for a game of cricket (I wonder why U wanna come all the way to SG to play cricket ^__^, unless it is competition) But i do see often they have cricket game / practice going on when I drove past.

From Peninsula to CSC, that is about 15-20min, depending on traffic.

Thanks for your help...

It turns out that the sg air deal only involves the %26#39;lower quality%26#39; excelsior tower..on my estimations that is the northern tower overlooking hill street?

At A$89 per person with transfers and some tourist freebies its not a bad deal...

we are playing the misfits at ceylon sports en route to england for the ashes and further games..

we get in on sq 220 on a thursday afternoon and leave on sq 328 the next night. we have thursday evening and friday am free prior to the game.

some of us will be doing a pub crawl thru colonial singapore on the thursday evening....raffles.singapore cricket club...cavern at boat quay..any other suggestions for our pub crawl???

other suggestions for a tourist evening in sg?

Hi Jacko,

For a tourist evening, you could combine your pub crawl activities together with some sightseeing if you hang around the Clarke Quay/Boat Quay area, and also that of the Chinatown.

In the Clarke/Boat Quay area, you could take a 30/45mins bumboat ride along the singapore river.

http://www.rivercruise.com.sg/rivercruise.htm

And after the cruising you will find no lack in pubs in the clarke/boat Quay areas.

In the Chinatown Area, you could take a stroll along the ethnic streets named the Temple Street, the Sago Lane, the Pagoda St etc. And visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre (opens till 8pm if you can make it). www.chinatownheritage.com.sg/visitor.htm

There are also a number of pubs in Duxton, Ang Siang Hill street etc.

If you wanna take a peep at the glamour of the Singapore City, then you could spend your night hanging out along the Esplande or the One Fullerton Area. Or you could catch a good aerial view of the city having a drink at the tall and grand Swissotel The Stamford hotel.

Another alternative is to visit the Night Safari.

Cheers,

Suying

thank you...

the bumboat ride is a freebie with the stopover deal...what do you make of these other freebies...

Unlimited rides on the convenient SIA Hop-on bus and SIA Hop-on Sentosa Shuttle

we haven%26#39;t got time for sentosa so.......

whats the sg flyer cost?

Hi Jacko,

The Flyer ride is at:

Prices

Adult: S$29.50

Child: S$20.65

Senior: S$23.60

singaporeflyer.com/en/…index.php

Free Captain Explorer Amphibious Boat Tour (if it%26#39;s free, go for it if you have yet to experienced a ride on amphibious boat. However, do note the ride is pretty bumpy and there is not much sight-seeing.)

Sentosa Island Resort - You could venture into Sentosa Island if you have the time. And if you do, interesting places include the Laser Show known as the Songs of the Sea (some fireworks), the sentosa Luge ride, the fort siloso and the Undersea World.

Malay Heritage Centre: Interesting place to know more abt the Malay Origins/culture, that is if you are interested in knowing more abt the Malay Race.

National Orchid Garden: Some would advise it%26#39;s not to be missed. However, it depends on your interest on whether you are an lover for plants.

Singapore River Bumboat Tour: I would definitely go on this! It brings you along the long stretch of singapore river and is definitely better than the amphibian boat.

Jurong BirdPark and The Singapore Zoo are located right next to each other. For the Sg Zoo, there is also the night safari. So it is really up to your preference. Another interesting highlight is that you could have breakfast with the Orang Utans in the morning!

Cheers,

Suying

^^ just a small correction to the above, the Jurong Bird park and the Zoo are quite a distance apart.

Hi Mankster,

Oops.

Thanks much for the correction. I got it mixed up.

The Jurong Bird Park is situated at Boon Lay area while the Zoo is at the Mandai.

Cheers,

Suying
