Conrad Centennial - is this hotel close to main attractions

Hi all... My husband %26amp; I will be in Singapore on the 20 - 23 February %26#39;09, before flying to Bangkok for shopping spree. We looked at the hotelclub site and found Conrad Centennial has a special offer of AUD194 per night, which we believe it%26#39;s a very good price considering most of 5 stars hotels in SG are in the price range of %26gt;AUD250.

We%26#39;re wondering how close is this hotel to the main shopping centre %26amp; attraction (ie. Suntec city, SimLim, Orchard rd, Sentosa Island)? And is there any MRT station nearby?

We%26#39;ll arrive in SG on friday at 9.50pm... How much does the taxi cost from the airport to the hotel?

Thank you for your help.

Conrad Centennial - is this hotel close to main attractions

Hi Viaticus,

Indeed it looks like an attractive offer. =)

Conrad Centennial is located in the City Hall Area, right next to the Millenia Shopping Mall, and is within 5mins walk to access to Suntec City, Marina Square and the Esplanade. The nearest MRT for Conrad is the City Hall Mrt Station. You could take the underground tunnel known as the City Link to get to the Mrt Station.

As for Sim Lim, it is located in the Bugis Area, which is just a stop away from City hall using the MRT.

When going to Orchard road, from city hall it is just another 3 stops (if i%26#39;m not mistakened) to Orchard Mrt Station.

For the Sentosa island, it will be a little more tricky (please anyone correct me if i%26#39;m wrong) as you would have to take a train from City Hall to Dhoby Ghaut, switch train to get to Vivocity. And from Vivocity take a tram to Sentosa Island.

As for your taxi fare query:

Estimated Fare using meter at 22:00

Distance: 17.74 km.

first km S$2.80

10.0 km. x S$0.52 per km S$5.19

6.74 km. x S$0.61 per km S$4.08

waiting in traffic (~6 min.) S$1.68

Central Business District (CBD) surcharge S$3.00

Changi Airport %26amp; Changi Air Freight Centre S$5.00

Total S$21.76

Cheers,

Suying

Conrad Centennial is smack in the Marina Square/SUNTEC City area; nearest MRT station is City Hall, which is a short 5 mins walk.

Do a ';search'; in this forum for taxi charges from airport.

Thank you for your detailed explanation, TravelWithSuying. Will book Conrad straight away, the offer may not last. :-)

Great to hear that Conrad is close to Suntec city because we really want to go to the Fountain of Wealth, thank you ShuangMT.

To Bugis: Take bus 131 at the Bus stop infront of Suntec City Mall (Opposite Oscar Cafe)

To Little India %26amp; Sim lim: Take Bus 857 at the same bus stop

Coming back from Orchard %26amp; To Botanical Garden:

Take bus 106 And stop at the above bus stop.

To Orchard %26amp; back to Suntec: (On Weekday after 7.30pm %26amp; Weekend after 1.30pm): U can take 700A at the same bus stop.

Othertime to orchard, you might want to walk over to The bus stop infront of the Esplanade Threater on the bay %26amp; Take bus 77.

To vivocity %26amp; Sentosa: Just walk over Marina Square Mall to The Esplanade Threater on the Bay %26amp; Take bus 97, stop infront of Vivocity, proceed to the 3rd floor (Take the Lift near the taxi stand). Buy your ticket for Sentosa %26amp; off U go on the SHuttle Skytrain.

To Merlion Park %26amp; Walk along Singapore River, just simply walk over the Bridge infront of The Esplanade.

Another shopping near Conrad is Raffles City Mall with the City Hall MRT just downstairs

Taxi from Airport to Hotel is about S$22 Max (could be less but Include any surcharge)

If U are going to Bangkok, I advise U to shop for most of the branded Shoes %26amp; bra there ^__^.

Have fun

Wow great. Thank you so much guys...

TravelWithSuying, which hotel do you recommend? Conrad or Pan Pacific? Yes, I was also shocked when saw the prices, usually hotels in Singapore are pretty expensive.

Me^Only, great information. It will make our trip to Sentosa Island easier... And yes, will do our shopping in Bangkok. We will mainly visit the main attractions in Singapore.

It is amazing what deals there are if you look at the moment. I was going for the Mandarin Marina, in a deluxe room inc breakfast and taxes for S$250 pn, but at the last moment i found an amazing deal for the Conrad, with a room on the executive floor, with breakfast, lounge access, drinks, 18.00 checkout etc, for only s$30 more including taxes!!

I%26#39;m sooo excited!

Viaticus

I believe the rate U are getting for Conrad is really a steal.

Pan Pacific is just infront of Conrad, hence I believe Conrad is still a good choice (Remember to try your luck on requesting for a Room that Face the Fountain of Wealth ^__^).

Another Bus tip, going to Orchard Road, Take Bus 36 (Anytime of the day) at the Bus stop infront of Oscar Cafe (Opposite the Suntec Bus stop). Bus 36 will go by National Museum %26amp; Orchard Road.

Have a good time.

Hi There

THere is a Typo for Bus# to bugis, Pls change to Bus 133 ^__^. (It is not 131).

Bus 131 Ply along Shenton Way via Fullerton Hotel to Little India.

Hello Viaticus,

Both hotels are equally good. If I were you, I would see which hotel includes breakfast for me! But if both doesnt offer breakfast... then check out the rooms interior design (from the travellers%26#39; photos) to choose your preferred ambience. I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll enjoy your trip in both hotels.

And yes AC, the prices are crazily low now. For example, the rates were still at like S$280 for Pan Pacific 3months ago... It got me so tempted to book a room and have a luxury weekend now!

Cheers,

suying
