Jetstar - Per to Bkk via Sin

We are looking at flying Jetstar from Perth to Bangkok later this year. Flights to Bangkok have an 11 hr transit and on the way back a 6 hr transit. We are regular visitors to Singapore and would like to leave the airpot for a few hours of the transit time.

Not having transitted through Changi before, could someone who has done this type of thing let me know

- will bags be checked through to Bkk? I would assume they would be as that is our original destination.

- will Jetstar issue a boarding pass for the connecting flight to Bkk? From what I have read you must have the boarding pass to re enter transit area.

- if we don%26#39;t get a boarding pass can we go to the Transit Counter to get one that will enable us to enter Singapore?

Thanx for any advice you can offer!

Jetstar is a point-to-point low cost carrier, which means that no transfer of baggage or issuance of your 2nd flight sector boarding passes (ie. SIN-BKK).

On arrival in Singapore, you will need to clear immigration, retrieve your luggage and clear customs. Proceed 1 level up to Departure Hall to check-in for your next flight 2 hrs before departure.

You cannot get your Boarding Passes in the transit area as these facilities are not available to Jetstar passengers. Only full-service carrier subscribe to such services offered at Changi Airport.

What you can do is to enjoy the transit area facilites first and exit the airport about 3 hrs before your next flight by retrieving your luggage from the ';Lost %26amp; Found Luggage'; Department to re-check-in for your next flight.

Hello

I also fly the PER-SIN leg often, I have noticed though Tiger Airways is cheaper than both Jetstar and Air Asia Ex Perth, your waiting periods in Singapore would be alot less if u flew with Tiger also. I just did some random dates, Duration ex Perth just over 11 hrs and coming home almost 12 hours. Tiger offers 3 flights daily between SIN and BKK but only 1 service PER-SIN daily. Hope this helps

Thank you for your replies.

Jetpilot, we have flown Tiger before but the idea of using Jetstar was the actual time in Singapore. We know where we want to go and do, and much as we would like to stay a couple of days in Singapore, the cost of hotels are a bit high at the moment.

It is billed as a flight to Bangkok, so I would have thought our bags would have been checked through.

The other reason for flying Jetstar was being able to spend some time in Changi terminals rather than the budget terminal (unfortunately husband doesn%26#39;t sleep on planes and will need recovery time)

Hi Zoey...

Perhaps it would be best to check with Jetstar airline staff when you check-in for your flight at Perth Airport. There may have changed certain policies which I may not be aware of.

Take a look at this page from Jetstar%26#39;s website: jetstar.com/au/鈥light-connections.aspx

Unfortunately there is no indication for Jetstar (JQ) Int%26#39;l transfering to Jetstar (3K) Int%26#39;l under ';SIN'; column.

Therefore, if they really can%26#39;t do the bags transfer, you should know what to expect.

Thank you Kevin. I did check with Jetstar this morning and they confirmed that we have to collect our bags and then checkin again for Bkk flight.

Not really a problemm just hoping to avoid left luggage and get back into the airport a bit earlier.

Is it common for passengers not to collect their bags straight away? I know it has been suggested before, we were hoping to have breakfast and waste a bit of time before heading into the city around 9am.

I suppose there is always Mustafa%26#39;s to visit before then!
