Singapore 4 nights, 3 nights somewhere, 6 nights in Bali

Hi

We are two families (10 persons) arriving in Singapore next Thursday (26th Feb). We have booked 4 nights at Lanson Place in Singapore. On the 5th we have a flight from SIN to DPS with Singapore Airlines at 1900hrs.

Therefore: we have 3 nights from the 2nd to the 5th that are still open. I was first thinking of making a trip to Melaka with a coach and stay at Fenix Inn for one night (have booked, but not prepaid), and then furter on to KL and stay at D%26#39;Oriental (have booked, but not prepaid). But the problems starts when looking for flights from KUL to SIN at the 5th. I think the one way flights with the ';reliable'; airlines are to expensive. The low cost airlines like Air Asia and Tiger seems to be a bit cumbersome because we have to do the customs and immigration once more just to check in again at the international flight to DPS. Would this be a problem? And how many hours must there be in SIN to be sure to make it further?

But I am open for suggestions. My first thoughts were to take Berjaya Air to Tioman. The return flight to Singapore with Berjaya arrive at 1330 ont the 5th, plenty of time for transfer to Changi. Or what?

Bintan has also been thought about, but I know to little about this.

The best would have to be a budget cost trouble free three days that adds up to the things that we don%26#39;t get in Singapore or Bali.

Any suggestions would be great!

I%26#39;d take an early morning coach back from KL to arrive into Singapore in the early afternoon around 2pm, should leave you with plenty of time in case of any delays. Or the overnight sleeper train is different and saves a nights accomadation in KL, gets into Singapore in the morning. No point going to Bintan if your going to Bali next.

My 2 cents.

With just 3 nights between SG and DPS, you really don%26#39;t have time to see both Malacca and KL, what with travel time involved. Pick either Malacca or KL and stay the entire 3 nights. If you choose Malacca (2 1/2 days excl travel time) is just about right especially if you%26#39;re a history buff or a foodie. If you decide on KL, then 2 1/2 days is not quite sufficient especially if you want to check out sights like Batu Caves, Petronas Twin Towers, Chinatown markets and further afield, the Fireflies in Kuala Selangor. Frankly there%26#39;s really no point in rushing from one town to another ... after all, you%26#39;re on vacation and you do want to experience the best the town has to offer!

Hi,

If you really want to go somewhere else and if you are a cultural person, Malacca might interest you. It is well known for its Peranakan Culture, which can mainly be found in Malacca, Penang, Singapore, some parts of Indonesia and I think that there are also some Peranakan Indians.

Forget about Bintan if you are going to Bali. The part that is nearest to Singapore, 45 min ferry ride, is basically an extension of Singapore - tourist enclave. Plus you have to pay for the Visa on Arrival, so you might as well just save that cost for Bali, instead of paying twice - depending on where you go.

Since you are also coming end of Feb, the weather may not be so good for Tioman, I think....if I%26#39;m not mistaken, it is the start of the changing for the seasons...? From rain to less rain..!?

Thanks for all replies!

About the weather; seems to be rainy all over the far east at the moment :(

I am a little cultural, but Melaka was mainly chosen because it was a nice stopover on the way to KL (because my wife fancy about capitols - and I don%26#39;t see why). I fancy more about markets and hawkers food. So a program on Travel Channel made us both interested for Melaka. However some other posts on Tripadvisor said one day in Melaka is good enought...

Not easy!

Malacca ';can'; be seen in one day, or you can take your time to see the place as well. It depends...Other plus points for Malacca is the nice food and also the fact that is is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site!!!!
