Labor Day - May 1

Hi all,

Just planning our trip to Singapore and Penang in May. I see that it is Labor Day in both Singapore and Malaysie on Friday May 1. This effectively makes it a long weekend. Are we better to avoid trip until after then re hotel prices and vacancies? Most hotels are usually cheaper over weekends obviously due to no business guests but I was wondering about long weekends?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Labor Day - May 1

Looks like we can get flights that arrive Singapore Sunday afternoon May 3, so that we would be arriving hotel around 4pm. so I take it that even if people came to Singapore for the long weekend they would have checked out by then and we shouldn%26#39;t have a problem with vacancies. Hoping to stay at Shangri-la even though prices have risen since last year and our Aussie dollar has dropped by 30%....just have to save harder!!!!! They don%26#39;t seem to have any deals on at the moment. Starting in July they have a stay 4 pay 3 deal being advertised in Australian travel brochures.We usually book direct but if it means using an agent to get a deal but we want to come in early May.

Do you know if there will there still be any celebrations on late Sunday or in the evening for Labor Day Me only?

For May, there are 2 holiday:

1 May being the Labor Day

9 May being the Vesak Day

As for Late nite celebration, I dun think so; unless pple go Party themselves ^__^.

Well, many locals %26amp; expat I know have booked their Holiday to overseas from SG during that period, as it%26#39;s consider a Long weekend for some.

Locally, Attractions like the Zoo or Birdpark will be a busy venue ^__*.

Yes we thought that some Singaporeans might head to Penang for the weekend so wanted to avoid being at the Rasa Sayang in Penang then. I didn%26#39;t know about the Vesak Day holiday.As that falls on a Saturday do many people head away for the weekend too? What actually does Vesak Day celebrate?

If Local heads off for Holiday, normally they will Leave SG on 31 Apr or 1 May %26amp; be back 10 or 11 May.

Well to me, it is a good enuff length to visit Mauritius ^__^.
