Been looking at a couple of these for Singapore.
For those who dont know,Wotif offer mystery deals where you get a cheaper price but you dont actually know which hotel you are booking.
You get basic information only before you book.
Anyway, this isnt meant to be discussion about the pros %26amp; cons, more interested in how easily you can actually work out which hotel it is.
Example A:currently theres a mystery deal for S$199,it is clearly the InterContinental.
The exact same room with the identical description is advertised at S$259 under the InterContinental listing
Example B: S$220 mystery deal which is almost certainly a S$363 room under the Royal Plaza on Scotts listing.
Description has at least been slightly reworded but its gotta be the same place
I realise theres some negatives to these deals %26amp; the risk isnt for everyone....cancellation fees etc but Im wondering if they are always this simple to work out?
Wotif: Wot hotel mystery deals
Hello there,
I have booked one of these Wotif mystery hotel deals - it was for a studio apartment in Melbourne 2 years ago. Like you, I carefully read the descriptions and worked out which one it was - nice place on Collins Street. I think Wotif are now being more vague in describing the mystery places, but I looked at a couple of the Singapore ones and thought it was The Carlton Hotel, and another probably the Grand Plaza City Hall.
You are right, the risk isn%26#39;t for everyone and not sure if I would do it to book accommodation for an overseas trip. Happy to do it for major Australian cities for CBD hotels, eg. Brisbane, Melbourne. The prices are pretty good.
Wotif: Wot hotel mystery deals
Hi ya Denise, thanks for the feedback.
Theres no doubt IMO that the 1st example is the InterContinental, they havent even bothered to change the words.
Cant be 100% with example B but its almost identical %26amp; the parking info is the same %26amp; quite specific.
I agree its not something you%26#39;d be booking for a week but we have a 1 night stop on route to Vietnam.
Been to Singapore a few times %26amp; most hotels around the 4* are much the same, happy to roll the dice.
Already stayed at RPOS so InterContinental will be a nice change
UPDATE:30 Jan
The above two deals are still available.
Heres a new one:
S$155 with breakfast for 2 %26amp; 3pm checkout
This is clearly the Furama Riverfront %26amp; is up to $188 without late checkout under the FR listing
Not as big a saving as the 2 above but S$38 will buy a lot of hawker meals
wow, this is great. thankyou for mentioning that website!!
