Free Singapore City Tour From Airport...

Has anyone done the free tour? They have a cultural tour that visits Chinatown, Sultans Mosque and Little India. 5-7 pm. I spent 2 weeks in Singapore last year, so I%26#39;d love to walk around Chinatown rather than sit at the airport. Just wondering if you CAN walk around on this tour or do you just drive past it? Web info wasn%26#39;t clear.

Another question.... I missed riding the elephant at Singapore zoo. Does anyone know how late you can do this? Also, cost of transport to Zoo from airport, and how much time should I allow for this? Many thanks for responses and advice.

Free Singapore City Tour From Airport...

Hi,

If in doubt you could opt to email the Singapore Tourism Board to enquire if you could get off the bus:

visitsingapore.com/publish/…feedback.html

If i%26#39;m not mistakened, whether you can disembark will depend on your visa as per mentioned in the website:

Option 1:

Passengers connecting at Terminals 1, 2 and 3 with at least six hours to spare in transit can, subject to visa requirements, take a free city shuttle to Little India, Suntec City or Bugis Street. Departure schedules are available at the visitors centers.

Option 2: Free Singapore Tour

Offered jointly by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, Singapore Airlines and Singapore Tourism Board, passengers connecting at Terminals 1, 2 and 3 with at least five hours to spare in transit can (subject to visa requirements) participate in the daily free two-hour city tour. Current departure timings are 0900 hrs / 1100 hrs / 1300 hrs / 1500 hrs / 1600 hrs and 1700 hrs. All tours are conducted in English.

Taxi Tourist Guide

A taxi tour guide licensed by the Singapore Tourism board will show tourists the wonders and sights in the city. Each tour is three hours and the fees are as follows:

Taxi tour guide with a regular taxi (4 passengers): S$105.00

Taxi tour guide with a Mercedes Limousine Taxi (4 passengers): S$135.00

Taxi tour guide with a Mercedes Vito Taxi (6 passengers): S$135.00

I remembered that on a thread in this forum someone mentioned that he/she is not allowed to get off the 2hr bus tour.

Singapore taxi fares vary according to the time which you board the taxi as there are peak hour surcharges... But according to your post, I calculated your fares at 5pm and it is as follows:

Estimated Fare using meter at 17:00

Distance: 30.92 km. | Duration: 34 min.

first km S$2.80

10.0 km. x S$0.52 per km S$5.19

19.92 km. x S$0.61 per km S$12.08

waiting in traffic (~16 min.) S$4.46

peak hour surcharge S$8.59

Changi Airport %26amp; Changi Air Freight Centre S$5.00

Total S$38.11

on a Sunday or Public Holiday it would be S$29.53

If the timing is wrong, you could try it on your own at this website: http://www.worldtaximeter.com/singapore

The address of the zoo is: 80 Mandai Lake Rd, Central Catchment Area, Singapore

And the Airport is: Changi International Airport, Singapore

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Suying

Free Singapore City Tour From Airport...

The free City Tour does not allowed you to get down to the places of Interest. If you have about 2 to 3 hours, you can go to Chinatown on your own if the time permits while transit here.

Take the MRT from Changi Airport Terminal 2. It will only take you about 30 minutes to Outram Park Station and cost less than S$3 per one way trip. This station is located at Chinatown.

The elephant ride only operates at certain time of the day. The timing are as follows:

1pm to 2 pm and 4.30pm to 5.30 pm

The cost is S$8.00

I guessed someone had given you info on the cost of transportation to the zoo and I shall not elaborate more on that.

The Shuttle to the cutlural sites of Little india and Chinatown etc will drop you off to allow you to explore. The City tour does not have and stop off points (you can get off if yout want- have to rush to the loo, feeling unwell), just tell the driver, but he will drive off straight after, no waiting and it will be up to you find your own way back. You will need to be eligible for the standard 30day visitors visa on arrival available to certain passport holders (US is fine) to go on the tours. If you dont fall into this catagory you will need to apply for a Visa inadvance as per normal to enter Singapore.
