Flight from UK to Bali via Singapore

I am planning our honeymoon, due to fly out of Manchester,UK on 6th July 2009 and return on 21st July 2009.

I have found a deal to get there at 拢550. Flying with Emirates from Manchester to SIngapore, via Dubai. Then flying with Jet Star from Singapore to Dubai. The only foreseeable problem is that the Emirates flight lands in Singapore at 16.50 on 7th July and the Jet Star flight deoarts at 19.05. I believe they both arrive and depart from Terminal 1 but we are slightly concerned that 2 hours will not give us enough time to disembark, get our bags, go through immigration and then check in for next flight. Has any one got any advice on this or has done this before?

I can%26#39;t seem to find any flights that leave Singapore to Bali any later than 19.05.

Part of the reason we want to fly Jet Star from Singapore to Bali is due to cost and other is due to us wanting to fly back to Singapore on 17th July ans spend 4 nights there before we have to return to the UK.

I have found a more expensive route at 拢750, flying with KLM which lands in Singapore at 15.55 giving us more time. What is KLM like as an airline compared to Emirates, does any one know?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give us

As long as your EK flight%26#39;s not delayed, I see no reason why you can%26#39;t check in for your Jetstar flight. SG immigration, customs and baggage reclaim are very efficient ... shouldn%26#39;t take you more than 40 mins to clear all. You then take the escalator up 1 level for Departures.

I was back in SG last week, flying on AirAsia (low cost), arriving at Terminal 1. It took me a little longer (5 mins rather than the usual 2) to clear immigration (I%26#39;m Singaporean so can go through the ';locals'; channel but there was a delay with the expat in front of me) than my husband who%26#39;s Brit. When we arrived at the baggage carousel, our bags were already on the belt. Customs didn%26#39;t even look at us.

I last flew with KLM quite a few years ago ... but I would still say go with EK ... better IFE, service and aircraft.

2 hour is plenty. You should be able to go to the Transfers desk at changi and get your boarding passes for your connecting flight, whithout going through emigration and collecting your luggage. Your luggage will be picked out and transfed. But as you have 2 flights to reach singapore (twice the chance of delay) and you are travelling on with another airline, if your delayed arriving, they will not hold the next flight back a little for you, so you may be cuttuing it fine.

Flying Singpore airlines should be around 拢650 (from Heathrorow, but they also fly from Manchester for a higher price) with a stopover in Singapore, and the airline will take care of you should you miss your connecting Singapore airlines flight to Bali for whatever reason.

For your EK flight from Dubai. Do take the earlier non-stop flight from Dubai to Singapore which is EK432 which arrives into Singapore at 2:05pm. Currently, you seem to have opted EK348 which makes a stopover in Colombo, Sri Lanka before continuing to Singapore.

I think Jetstar is your best bet from Singapore to Bali.

I think Garuda%26#39;s last flight to Bali is at 1915h. I have taken this flight once and it was delayed(am sure you don%26#39;t want to risk it though). Everytime I took Garuda Airlines from Singapore to Bali it got delayed, so now I much prefer Jetstar if I don%26#39;t fly with SQ. I haven%26#39;t tried Lion Air, but that one leaves way early in the morning.

Hi

dont know how this compares , but we have flights leaving london with Singapore airlines at teh end of june, 拢725 , this is for three days stop over in singapore then onward to Bali for two weeks. We thought this was quite a good price, and all with teh same airline.

thanks

First of all congratulations in advance!

Just a thought, have you not tried routing through KL? I have flow in to KL several times and used Air Asia to fly to various destinations in SE Asia including flying from KL to Singapore (approx 拢30 ea return) and KL to Bali. No offence to Singapore (as I%26#39;m heading there later this year), but KL is a much cheaper city!

Sorry if this adds confusion! If you want to know more though, please contact me.

Best wishes

Gilly

I used to always fly direct from London with Singapore Airlines but it is a very long time to be stuck on a plane. Latterly I preferred to go with Emirates and get off and stretch my legs for a couple of hours in Dubai.

Emirates is generally considered to be a very good airline but I think Singapore is even better, the standard of service is fantastic.

Hi thanks for all of your advice.

The Emirates flight EK432 that gets in at 14.05 for some reason is coming in at 拢657.10 each as opposed to 拢513 each for the flight that lands at 16.50 - does anyone know why that is?

Direct flights usually cost more.

Hi CheshireCoconut,

I just received an email from Singapore Airlines with flights from London to Bali from 580 pounds (Manchester is usually a bit more).

There are a couple of reasons to choose Singapore: great airline with probably the best economy onboard service, direct flights to Singapore, one single airline will check you right through allowing you to relax at Changi (one of the best airports in the World), Singapore Stopover promotion giving cheap hotels in Singapore if needed, Boarding Pass Privileges with loads of free things, and finally, Kris Flyer frequent flyer program is really good (probably enough points off this trip for a short round trip to Europe).

Most of the stuff is on their website, but you may have to phone them.

If you get the chance to spend some time in Singapore, take it. One of the World%26#39;s great cities.
