Note the different costs

Just out of interest, I did a search for costs for the holiday in Singapore that we begin on the 1st of March.

We%26#39;ve booked and paid for 21night, with an opinion to extend for a further week if we so choose.

Asia rooms.com............ 拢2751.00 with Breakfast.

Online the hotel quoted us 拢2407,00 with Breakfast.

Expedia.com............... 拢2184.00 with Breakfast.

Co.op Travel.............. 拢1576.00 with Breakfast.

Prices above are without flights.

I guess the moral of this little tale is do research, don%26#39;t dismiss travel shops, ask for discounts, they want to sell the holidays as much as we want to take them, particularly at the moment. Booking direct is NOT always the least expensive way to go.

The difference between the highest and the lowest price is another holiday later in the year.

For example I looked at going to Northern Cyprus in Sept. for 2 wks, flights, hotel B/B for less than 拢1000.00 (2 people) It%26#39;s good to travel. Alan.

Note the different costs

Oh so true, Alan! Just need lots of time, effort and research ... the best deals come to those who wait!

Note the different costs

Hello,

People are always complaining about the high costs of travel/hotels in Singapore, but as you found out there are deals to be had. Actually I enjoy the research and price comparison part before the trip. I am not going to throw my money away, especially in the tough economic climate here in Australia (and around the world).

Good on you for taking the time to do your research.

Happy travelling.

I do exactly the same, and am constantly surprised when others tell me how much they pay for holidays, it takes alot of time planning, but i enjoy the holiday so much more knowing i have done all the research.

Out of interest what hotel were you comparing , that price from co op is really good

thanks

All offers are with b/fast but do all offers include the same room standard?

This may reflect on some of the price difference.

I wish I had the patience to compare in such detail.

Can I employ you? I%26#39;m serious.

Quote %26#39;%26#39;All offers are with b/fast but do all offers include the same room standard%26#39;%26#39;?

Why would I offer a comparison if they weren%26#39;t for for the same thing ? That would be silly.

Alan

Today, having just done another search, I%26#39;ve got a different set of prices yet again, So it seems that WHAT day you choose seems to make a difference.

Of course with the exchange rates at the moment all over the place, so that can also play a huge part in what one pays. I guess one or two nights doesn%26#39;t matter so much, but for any extended stays the costs can vary quite a lot.

I might add I booked our holiday last June/July, when the %26#39;%26#39;Sing%26#39;%26#39; dollar was more advantageous to the GBP.

Hey ho, it keeps us on our toes, and it%26#39;s another lesson I%26#39;ve learned today, book/pay when the rate is favorable. Alan.

We always shop around. The best deal recently was a week December in a 2-bedroomed villa at Marriotts Cypress Harbour for under $500 Australian (about $US320).

In Singapore we try to stay at the Royal Plaza on Scotts. The best deal has been the 60-day advance booking via their website, but Expedia has some great deals that are about 15% less (for 3 nights or more).

We stayed at the Stamford in Sydney last month. The hotel manager told me that he wasn%26#39;t able to give a price as low as the expedia rate.

There are loads of ways of buying accommodation. It%26#39;s the same accommodation, just a different price.
