Expected weather
The temperature will cluster around an average of just over 30 degrees centigrade and humidity will be very high giving tropical rains. When you walk out of the air con airport door for the very first time it can feel like walking into a wall. Go slow and take what time you need to acclimatise and sort your itinerary around that idea.
Now some (hopefully) slightly more useful specifics. That tropical rain tend to hit hard and fast. You usually get big cloudbursts that last 30-60minutes and thats the rain for the day. Yes, some days the rain will set in for the day but thats actually fairly rare. The upshot of this is - don%26#39;t panic when you see a forecast that lists the next 20days as expecting rain - we are not talking UK all day drizzle that wrecks your chance of going outside. We are talking about rain you hide from for a bit and then go enjoy the rest of the day. Its warm rain too so if you get caught in it, its not usually too unpleasant unless you get soaked and walk into an aircon building imediately. A small hand umbrella goes a long way to letting you do what you want when you want in SIngapore.
In many ways I prefer to hit the all-day outdoor attractions like the zoo on such days as the humidity is relieved, the overall temperature is often a bit lower and you may find less people around.
Sun and cloud...this is variable. Don%26#39;t expect all day clear skies every day - they happen often enough but its not permanent. Do not make the mistake of assuming that the cloud is big sun protection. We are talking a location about a degree north of the equator - you can get sunburned nearly as easily with some cloud in the sky and it feeling nice and cool.
You can also dehydrate just as easily....once you start to feel thirsty that can be a bit late...I try and stay ahead of dehydration by drinking as often as I can - water, juice, canned drinks etc. I particularly avoid alcohol unless its the evening and even then I often stick to the soft drinks (quite unlike the usual %26#39;night at the rugby club%26#39; syndrome) - how this all works for each individual does vary so just be aware that dehydration is an issue.
You will get a better ability to plan if you can find a website that splits the day up into smaller chunks so you can see if you will wake up to rain that fades, get the early afternoon thunderstorm or rain as the evening sets in. Similarly you get a better idea of heat of the day when you can find an average daytime temperature quoted rather than a peak temperature - the first can change quite a lot, the second less so. Too many places will quote a peak temperature.
