What is the best way to get to our hotel from the airport. We are 2 adults traveling with 3 children, the youngest being 9 months old.
Are the taxi%26#39;s big enough for 5 passengers and what about a child seat?
What about the Airport Shuttle bus? Does that take children??
OUr hotel doesnt included transfers.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter.
With many thanks
Caziola :)

Singapore Taxis are allowed to carry 4 adults. 2 children = 1 adult. A chil should be less than 12 yrs to be considered as a child.
Your family should be able to fit into the taxi. There are no child seats in taxis.
Yes, the airport shuttle takes all passengers young and seniors. In Singapore, you don%26#39;t need hotel transfers as they are expensive. It is easy to get a taxi from the airport. Just head to the regular taxi rank.
Taxis run on meters and a machine printed receipt is available on request at the end of your journey.

Hi caziola,
I understand your concern as I also often face the same problem when I travel with my family of five. However, in Singapore, you can be rest assured this isn%26#39;t a problem, as the taxi companies here have bigger taxis (MPV type) that can sit up to six (excluding the driver). They are sometimes found at the airport, so just approach the staff co-ordinating at the taxi stand outside the arrival hall to get one such bigger taxi for you. Or if you carry with you a mobile phone (or you can use the many public phone available in the airport), you can call one of the following taxi companies to book one:
MaxiCab - 67780808
Citycab MPV- 65522828
But of course, you pay a few dollars more if you book the cab as compared to getting one at the taxi stand. Hope this helps.
You can hire a Maxi Cab mini van at the airport for a fixed charge of around $35 to any destination in singapore, just approch the booking desk near the taxi stand inside the terminal. While a regular taxi may fit you all in, there wont be enough space for suitaces. No need to phone and book in advance.Waiting is never more than 5-10 minutes. Chilren are not required by law to be in a Child seat in a taxi (only in private vehicles) hence taxis dont carry one, but you can bring one along yourself. You can check in carseats on the plane to go in the hold and it wont count towards your luggage weight allowance.
A Normal Public taxi that goes on Meter, should NOT cost MORE than S$27, including any ERP surcharge, airport surcharde etc.; for a Trip to any Hotel in Town.
No problem, just talk to the staff at the taxi conunter at the airport, I am sure he can arrange for a bigger taxi. Don%26#39;t need MPV at all. I have 3 kids too, youngest 7yrs. Still using taxi over the weekends in SG. Never have any problem. Just need to watch out if you catch a taxi on the street, the newer ones are small in sitting space. As what you mentioned about the youngest, you never have to worry at all even with the smaller cab
Our family of five (three kids under 9) arrived at the new terminal earlier this year and got a shuttle bus to our hotel. We just walked straight out of customs and went to the shuttle bus desk just outside. It was very cheap, the driver helped us with our luggage there and at our hotel. It was great, easy to organise and safer for our 3 year old who didn%26#39;t have to sit on our lap in a normal taxi. We booked the same service on the way back to the airport. Try the singapore airport website for more info.
Taxis are very cheap in Singapore compared to Aus so we did use them to travel around the city sometimes - generally on the way back to to the hotel from sightseeing when we were caught in a downpour or going short distances. We never used a car seat so it is a bit of judgement call as to your little one%26#39;s safety, but we always felt it was ok. Singapore roads and drivers seemed to take great care. The metro/subway system is excellent.
Enjoy your trip!
Seems that the maxi cab info here needs some update.. its $45 instead of $35 now from the airport. Try http://eBustop.com/ I used it for arrival %26amp; dep, at only $35 and $30 respectively. They have bigger and more comfortable cabs.. but they seem like a private company unlike most state run cab services.
There are 7 of us arriving but at 3am in the morning.
If we hire a maxi cab to fit us.....what price should we expect to pay for that at that time of morning with the surcharge etc?
And will the hire desk be open then?
Thanks in advance.
there will be a midnight surcharge (after 12mn) of 50% on top of your taxi fare, meaning if your taxi metered fare is $20, u have to pay an additional $10.
the midnight surcharge is uniform throughout the various taxi companies
