I am coming for my honeymoon to Singapore.
I have options to stay at Concorde Hotel(formely Le-Meridian) hotel Orchard road, or Rasa Shangri-la Resort at Sentosa. The stay duration will be of 4Nights.
Please suggest.
My prefernce is to spend some time at beach.
Can anyone also suggest what kind of beach activities are possible at Sentosa and whether the beach is good or not?
Thanks in advance.
Shangr-la resort Sentosa or Concorde Hotel Orchard RoadI wont recommend the Concorde until they have finish their renovation esp. for honeymooners.
U will enjoy the Shang more (even if it is on Sentosa).
U may want to check out the activities available on Sentosa island for any activities close to your travel dates.
Good luck and congrats.
Shangr-la resort Sentosa or Concorde Hotel Orchard RoadShangrila on Sentosa will always be a better Honeymoon hotel than the Concorde, even after they finish renovating. It has a small private beach, safe for swimming, the beach areas which is maintained by the Hotel is spotless and is probably the best in Singapore but nothing compared to established beach resorts in the region. Expect the water to be cloudy and horizon filled with container and tanker ships. Still plenty to do in Sentosa and there is a shuttle to Vivocity for the MRT and downtown.
Hi Ankitkuchhal,
As per recommended by Mankster, I would also agree that the Shangrila is better than Concorde. Another location for consideration is the Sentosa Resort and Spa (located amongst the greens), personally i prefer the facilities here rather than Shangrila. However, Shangrila is good in terms that it has a private beach area.
If you are really into beach activities, perhaps you could consider going to Bintan Indonesia instead. It is a short 45mins ferry ride from Singapore Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Pretty easy to access. And the beach there is much more prettier and serene compared to Sg... and more activities to do. It has no giantic tankers or container ships to pollute the beach waters. I have posted two reviews: One on Angsana Bintan - and from this there are photos of the lovely beach waters for you to see.
And if you see my picture on Bintan Lagoon Resort, you will notice that the waters are less blue... and this is roughly the color for the beaches you%26#39;d be seeing in Singapore.
However, 4nights in Bintan might be a bit too long... you could spend 2nights in Bintan and 2 nights in Singapore if you dont have too much luggage.
Cheers,
Suying
I would recommend Sentosa Resort and Spa. Great suites, huge swimming pool, good restaurant and the bus stop for the round the island tours. The beaches in Sentosa look fine although man made I think. The resort is also a walking distance from the golf course.
The place is a heaven of peace after the bustle of downtown Singapore.
Hi, we have stayed at the Shangri La three times and love it. But, and this may be a big but, we love it as we have children and it%26#39;s great for them. The pools are lovely and the service welcoming. Rooms are clean and fairly spacious. The beach is not huge, and as you probably know, looks out on to the container port. This sounds horrendous, but strangely, isn%26#39;t. My two boys went on a canoe trip around the beach and were gone for a while and loved it. It is clean and peaceful, I sat and waited for them without seeing more than a couple of people - though the weekend gets busy. As for beach activities I think there%26#39;s stuff to do further down from the hotel (very easy to get around). There%26#39;s the dolphins of course which are worth a visit. We can%26#39;t recommend Sentosa Island enough as there%26#39;s so much to do. Some great restuarants a short stroll away, so don%26#39;t be restricted to the hotel restuarant. One had beautiful, chill out beds on the beach - fab! Also, it really isn%26#39;t difficult to get into the city centre if you want to.
As for Orchard Road I have only visited - a shoppers paradise. Not sure of the hotel though. Hope this helps.
