Royal Plaza on Scotts...Good location?

Hi All,

I plan on staying at the Royal Plaza for 3 nights in August.

It seems like a very nice hotel and they seem to have some great rates at the moment. $720AU in a Premier Room with Mini Bar and Breakfast.

Being located at the top end of Orchard Rd, is this a good spot?

Want to do a bit of shopping and also take in the Zoo, SIngapore Flyer etc..

Does it have good access to the MRT to see these spots?

Thanks.

Based upon reading almost the TA reviews on the Royal Scots hotel it seems that people tend to like the place and it is convenient to the Orchard MRT station. The pool look a little small, but reasonable.

There are nicer places to stay in terms on the actual room I think, but for a good location for shoppers it is probably hard to beat for the money.

Hi Chesty, I was there abt a few weeks ago but I wasnt at the Premier Room. =)

The Royal Plaza is a great place to stay in if you intend to go on full scale shopping in the Orchard and Somerset Districts. And the complimentary breakfast at Carousel is pretty good. But please remember the breakfast ends at 10am and not 10.30am. The last time i stayed the front desk told me the wrong timing and i almost missed my breakfast. But the swimming pool in the hotel is kinda small and disappointing.

Due to the economy crunch, the hotels in Sg are all facing low occupancy rate. The good news is that now you would be able to get a 5 Star hotel at a 4 star rate. Go check out the websites of hotels for their promotional rates and click at random. You%26#39;ll be shocked at the attractive prices offered now.

For tourism and accessibility (MRT) purposes, I would prefer to stay in central location such as the Pan Pacific Hotel, the Conrad, the Swissotel The Stamford and the Marina Mandarin. It is nearer to the Singapore Flyer and it is easier to access to different parts of Sg no matter where you wanna go.

As for the Zoo, there are no hotels near it, you would most probably have to take a taxi which is not expensive in Sg.

Cheers,

Suying

Thanks Suying.

You make some very valid points. I guess location is paramount for me, however so is a nice hotel so I will do as you suggest and check some hotels directly for current promotions.

The beauty of Singapore%26#39;s excellent transport system means getting around wont be hard...

Sg has got quite a good range of hotels. I%26#39;m sure you will be spoilt for choice.

Happie Exploring Chesty!

Rgds,

Suying
