Is it possible to buy a bottle of wine in a supermarket. We are planning a stopover for a few days in July and we havent been for 10years. I remember last time wine was very very expensive in a resturant or bar.

Good Wine is still pretty much on the expensive side in a restaurant or bar as compared to many other countries. However, it also depends on where you are... there is usually a range of prices to choose. In hotels it is definitely much more expensive depending on the selection. But the most expensive is still the champagnes.
It is possible to buy wines from supermarkets...and the ones with a wider range is that of the Carrefour available at Suntec City where wine can be just under S$20 and more... again depending on the make.

Besides supermarkets, there%26#39;re also dedicated bottle shops. I like the one in Paragon (on Orchard Road): extensive selection of wines, especially New World
ones. There%26#39;s also a MarketPlace (upmarket supermart) in Paragon and Raffles City Shopping Mall.
A bottle of Cloudy Bay Sav Blanc costs SGD60; Wither Hills SGD40 and if you can get it, Villa Maria SGD50. My all time fav, Petaluma Coonawara%26#39;s SGD80ish. Of course there%26#39;re cheaper ones ... but frankly I wouldn%26#39;t drink one that costs anything less than SGD25 ... life%26#39;s too short to drink bad wine! ;)
Buy your duty-free wine at the airport on the way in.
