Have just read the another thread about teens travelling to Paris and it made me realise that there might be complications for my daughter there and in Singapore.
What laws are their about minors staying unaccompanied in hotels in Singapore? She only turns 18 just over a week later and he is not 18 until Sept.
What would we have to do?
We are travelling to Ireland to visit relatives in June/July. We are going via Singapore and Paris.
Our 17 year old has to follow later as she has important exams. She is bringing her boyfriend.
She went to Singapore with us last year so knows where to go in the city and as it is just overnight knows what she wants to see.
I will book her into the same hotel we will stay in about a fornight prior.
I will also post on the Paris forum but does anyone know about Paris too?
!7 year olds unaccompanied in hotels
Hi there,
I read the same thread on the Paris forum and it is an interesting situation.
We have a friend whose daughter travelled to and from Paris last year by herself at age 16. Customs required a letter of consent to travel signed by both parents, her birth certificate and passport. Mind you the yoing lady said they didn%26#39;t really care when she went through customs but I suppose it could have been a problem.
You cound contact the High Commission of Singapore in Canberra on 02 6271 2000
I would also contact the hotel directly and make sure they are going to allow them to register. In the past my sister has done this with her daughter and left credit card details and it wasn%26#39;t a problem.
Hope you all have a wonderful trip

Thank you. Should have been 17 not !7.
I will do as you have suggested.
And where did she stay in Paris?
Not sure where she stayed in Paris. I know she was there for several days on her own before she caught the train to London to spend time with relatives.
I%26#39;m afraid I can%26#39;t check on the name of the hotel at the moment as the family are currently back in Paris on vacation.
Hope it all gets sorted.
Trish
I checked with the hotel in Singapore where we stayed last time and where we are planning on staying this time - Novotel Clarke Quay (great location). They said that it was against the law for a minor to check in.
So we are considering reversing her travel plans. She turns 18 when we are in Ireland so she would be 18 in paris and Singapore. She will miss a couple of days of school (of her final term) but she should be able to catch up.
He will still be 17 so hopefully parental permission for travel and hotels will be enough.
