6 hours to spend in Singapore, what to do?

In march I will be traveling to Sulawesi and I will have 6 hours to spend in Singapore before catching my next flight. I will have 6 hours on both trips, the first is from 6 am - noon and the second is from 5 pm - 11 pm.

I was thinking of taking the free trip on the first day, but this is only 2 hours and I have a lot more. What more can I do in the morning?

The second trip is in the evening, I was thinking of going out to dinner in Chinatown of Little India, is that a good option?

What is the fastest way to get to the city center from the airport, metro or taxi?

Not sure what time the Free 2 hour SG tour starts so you should check with the Singapore Visitors Centre. If it starts later than 9am, you may not make it back in time for your onward flight. There%26#39;s lots to see and do at Changi ... have you been? Pick up an ';Explore'; - Your Information Guide to Changi Airport brochure to see what%26#39;s available: from spas to shopping to just chillin%26#39; at the numerous bars and restaurants.

For your homeward transit, you could store your bags at Left Luggage and catch the MRT (just remember that if you%26#39;re arriving on weekdays, it%26#39;s peak hour from 5pm and the MRT is very crowded). All depends on what you want to eat or see in downtown SG.

Hi Jacq,

6am to Noon:

Most retail shops in Sg doesnt open in the early morning hours. And mostly opens at 11pm.

What%26#39;s left for you in the morning are these:

1) Explore Changi Village - Changi Prison Museum, try out local food at Changi Village Hawker Centre, take a good walk by the beach.

2) Visit the Singapore Zoo: 8.30am to 6.00pm daily

3) Visit the Botanical Garden.

For your 2nd trip, Chinatown will be a better option for dinner I suppose. You could try the local food at the People%26#39;s Park Complex Hawker Centre. Or you could try out the Yum Cha Restaurant. http://www.yumcha.com.sg/Contact.html

Also visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre. www.chinatownheritage.com.sg

Nearby Chinatown you could do some shopping at The Central Mall.

Cheers,

Suying

As for your query on transportation, MRT is faster during peak hours and taxi is faster during off peak hours.

Peak hours usually are: 8am to 9.30am and 5pm to 9pm.

For the MRT, the crowd is still okay during 5-6.15pm... but highly jam packed during 6.15-7.30pm.

So just make sure you catch the train before 6pm.

Cheers,

Suying
